My Baby's Green: Air-O-Swiss {Giveaway}

The E2441 is intended to be used to humidify the air of your home in a space up to 430 square feet. The first thing that you notice when you take the unit out of the box is that there is not much set up involved. You basically lift it out of the box, remove the plastic bag the unit is packaged in, and plug it in. You are all set to start using the product.

The E2441 definitely looks different then any humidifier you’ve seen. At first look it has sort of a 1950’s sci-fi movie space ship look to it, definitely not the standard boxy looking unit that we are used to seeing. The absolutely best feature this product has is the ability to be filled with water from the top. My old humidifiers had removable tanks, which you had to take to a bathtub or the kitchen sink to fill, dripping water the entire way, and then it weighed too much, and it was awkward to handle after it was full. With this Air-O-Swiss, it’s just like watering your plants. You simply take a pitcher of water and pour it in the top, until you see the visual indicator that floats up to show you the unit is full. Such a simple concept that is so much easier to use, how many humidifier companies manufacturers must be slapping themselves for not thinking of it.

So now that the unit is set up, plugged in, and filled with water, what comes next? There is only one selection to make, you choose night mode or normal mode, by sliding the on/off selector switch to the left or right. The “normal mode” on the Air-O-Swiss could be called “whisper” mode when I compare it to all of the other large humidifiers I have owned. The unit has a green LED at the switch, which shows that it is operating. When the red LED is on, the unit needs to be refilled. In the normal mode, I found that I can get about a full 24 hour day of operation before refilling.

The unit has an “ionic silver stick” inside, which is designed to prevent microbial growth in the water containment area. This stick is good for one year, according to the instructions that came in the box. There is a place to mark the date, so you can remember when the silver stick was last changed. The unit operates by soaking water into an evaporator wick and then using a fan to blow the dry room air across the wick, which releases moisture into the air as it exits the unit. There are no adjustments to make, outside of the night and normal selection, which changes the fan speed, and noise level. The wick is replaceable, and the instructions indicate that the wick should be changed every 10-12 weeks, or as needed, depending on usage.

To review, this unit is simple to setup, simple to operate, easy to maintain, and whisper quiet. My personal favorite feature again has to be the ability to fill the tank from the top by pouring water in it, and not have to lug around that clumsy tank of water, dripping it on the floors. Air-O-Swiss has a large line of humidifiers, air washers, cool and warm mist humidifiers, larger 3+ gallon tanks, larger room capacities, and even a small personal unit that uses a water bottle as the tank, so if you are looking for more bells and whistles they have those available also.
