Belle Baby Carriers Giveaway

In honor of International Babywearing Week, October 6-12, 2010, Belle Baby Carriers is offering one VERY lucky winner a carrier of their choice. Below you will find some information to help bring your babies closer to you and the benefits of doing so.

"Babywearing" simply means holding or carrying a baby or young child using a cloth baby carrier. Holding babies is natural and universal; baby carriers make it easier and more comfortable, allowing parents and caregivers to hold or carry their children while attending to the daily tasks of living.
Medical professionals agree that infants thrive through touch; “wearing” your baby is another way to meet this need. But the benefits of babywearing don’t end there … babywearing offers many other advantages, some of which include:
Happy Babies. It’s true … carried babies cry less! In a study published in the journal Pediatrics, researchers found that babywearing for three hours a day reduced infant crying by 43 percent overall and 54 percent during evening hours.
Healthy Babies. Premature babies and babies with special needs often enter the world with fragile nervous systems. When a baby rides in a sling attached to his mother, he is in tune with the rhythm of her breathing, the sound of her heartbeat, and the movements his mother makes—walking, bending, and reaching. This stimulation helps him to regulate his own physical responses. Research has even shown that premature babies who are touched and held gain weight faster and are healthier than babies who are not.
Confident Parents. A large part of feeling confident as a parent is the ability to read our babies’ cues successfully. Holding our babies close in a sling allows us to become finely attuned to their movements, gestures, and facial expressions. Every time a baby is able to let us know that she is hungry, bored, or wet without having to cry, her trust in us is increased, her learning is enhanced, and our own confidence is reinforced. This cycle of positive interaction deepens the mutual attachment between parent and child, and is especially beneficial for mothers who are at risk for or suffering from postpartum depression.
Loving Caregivers. Baby carriers are a great bonding tool for fathers, grandparents, adoptive parents, babysitters, and other caregivers. Imagine a new father going for a walk with his baby in a sling. The baby is becoming used to his voice, heartbeat, movements, and facial expressions, and the two are forging a strong attachment of their own. Baby carriers are beneficial for every adult in a baby’s life. Cuddling up close in the sling is a wonderful way to get to know the baby in your life, and for the baby to get to know you!
•Comfort and Convenience. With the help of a good carrier, you can take care of older children or do chores without frequent interruptions from an anxious or distressed infant—which helps to reduce sibling rivalry. Baby carriers are also wonderful to use with older babies and toddlers; you can save those arms and go where strollers can’t. Climbing stairs, hiking, and navigating crowded airports all can be done with ease when you use a well-designed baby carrier!

Belle Baby Carrier in Organic Moss-Organic cotton and hemp blended fabrics with light green body and black straps. Environmentally friendly and nontoxic dyes. Compact, lightweight, and easy to use. Baby is directly against parent for increased bonding and discrete nursing. Baby can face in or out. Design transfers weight down to the hips for added comfort. Un-dyed inside liner is ultra soft and fuzzy. Easily adjustable one size fits all. Ideal for babies 8 -30 pounds. Now includes detachable head support panel.

MY TAKE-When you have a baby, you will need to make sure that you will get a quality baby carrier as well. These carriers mean to keep your baby close to you and being a WAHM that has a small home business to run, meant having to multi task more than ever. Obviously, there are a variety of different carriers you could pick from and my lack of experience in baby carriers honestly petrified me which is why I never ended up purchasing one when Gracie was smaller. Plus I have a bad back so I really didn’t think one would have worked for me anyhow. I was sent an Organic Belle Baby Carrier to review and after testing it out, I really wished that I had heard about it sooner. I know for a fact that I would have never looked back! With a Belle Baby Carrier, there is security for the baby and back support that helped me out big time. It is designed to distribute most of the baby’s weight to your hips rather than your back. I also needed a product that was safe, practical, versatile, EASY and comfortable for both of us.
I used it to take Gracie with me while taking the dogs on a walk, grocery shopping (actually got to use the entire shopping cart!) and my husband tried it when we went to a local corn maize.  A stroller is unusable in one of those so VERY handy. With a Belle Baby Carrier, parents would be able to carry out daily household chores, run errands, and whatever they had to do while their baby either watched or slept in the carrier-right there, against your chest-a heartbeat  away. Absolutely wonderful.
Gracie’s weight seemed to be evenly distributed because I was able to use the carrier for longer periods of time without a great strain on my back. The fantastic thing about this carrier is that it will work with kids up to 30 pounds! This is a front carrier that will allow you to have your baby facing away from you or facing you-Gracie loves to face forward so she can see what is going on as it comes, not as it goes. There is plenty of support for newborns at least 8 pounds and the baby is secured with strong straps. For babies that like to kick, this can be a great option. Another advantage is that it’s easy for mom’s to use as well.  I have tried a couple in stores but never came home with one just because they were too complicated and I didn’t feel that Gracie would be safe with me not being certain/confident that I had all in the correct slot etc.  BONUS-Machine or hand wash and line dry.
I have since recommended this carrier to other mothers I have met and would not hesitate to recommend it again. In fact, that is why I offer them at my store as well :)

I appreciate that the benefits of babywearing are listed on the site...and that the Belle Baby carrier does not add any unnecessary back strain. My first carrier was so painful I gave up.

  13. I publicly follow this blog. I visited the website and these carriers look great! I particularly love the orange blossom but I think my partner would prefer black - I love that there are some that don't look super feminine. Also, the fact that you can wear your child facing out or in is such a great bonus.

  23. I'm following you! I love their website! It is very well organized. When it comes down to the design of the carrier, I like that it has a waist/hip belt to get some of that weight off the shoulders and back unlike some similar carriers. I also appreciate how simple it is and as one mom put it in the Buzz section, I wouldn't need a PhD to know how to wear it!
