Green as Wee Grow Review & Giveaway

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said a hundreds of times-just LOVE finding smaller companies, especially ones owned and ran by Moms that have similar beliefs as I do.

This time I had the pleasure of getting to know a little bit about Samantha Fowler. She not only cares about what goes on her children but also what goes in their bodies. Visit Green as Wee Grow's Blog to learn more about how she took charge of the situation when the school was giving them salami and GoGurt every day for their snack. Like Samantha said, we may not have control over what they eat when they are older, but for now we do.
Good for the Earth, better for baby!

Most of your child's life for at least the first year is spent in their crib. Make it pesticide free as much as you can. Organic Cotton is health friendly and environment friendly, unlike its conventional counterpart. Conventional cotton, which accounts for 25 percent of all pesticide use in the world, is one of the most commonly used textiles for bedding. To manufacture just one sheet set, pounds of pesticide are used to grow the cotton from which it is made. The phrase “all natural” cotton is actually very misleading. This is why it’s so important to go organic! In addition to the cotton itself, conventional textiles are often dyed using toxic processes. Another benefit to buying organic cotton bedding is that the dying process used to color the fabric is usually a low impact one.
The image of a baby and parent dozing off together isn't an uncommon one. But the practice of co-sleeping, or sharing a bed with your infant, is controversial in the United States. Supporters of co-sleeping believe that a parent's bed is just where an infant belongs. But is it safe?
Why Do Some People Choose to Co-Sleep?
Co-sleeping supporters believe — and some studies support their beliefs — that co-sleeping:
  • encourages breastfeeding by making nighttime breastfeeding more convenient
  • makes it easier for a nursing mother to get her sleep cycle in sync with her baby's
  • helps babies fall asleep more easily, especially during their first few months and when they wake up in the middle of the night
  • helps babies get more nighttime sleep (because they awaken more frequently with shorter duration of feeds, which can add up to a greater amount of sleep throughout the night)
  • helps parents who are separated from their babies during the day regain the closeness with their infant that they feel they missed
A great choice for co-sleeping!
Queen Size Bed Sheet Set-Samantha assured me that I would love the brown sheets and she was absolutely correct. They are made to be washed, to be used and to last. The more you wash them the softer & cozier they become! I was so excited to try them out that as soon as they arrived in the mail, I washed and dried them so we could try them. The moment we laid down on them they felt so right. I felt so comfortable on them-I felt safe. My husband was pleasantly surprised and I loved that too-told you so! Was that wrong? Believe it or not, these were the first set of organic sheets that we have ever had and neither of us will ever go back to those conventional cotton sheets. A perfect for choice for co-sleeping or not!

If you choose not to co-sleep then the organic crib sheet is for you!
Organic Crib Sheet-Super soft, made in the USA and available in five colors. Gracie has one other organic crib sheet that is soft but not jersey type. This is by far the softest crib sheet that Gracie has. It was easy to put on but didn’t come off at while she rolled around at night. Of course, this sheet made us feel comfortable knowing that our daughter also slept on fabric that didn't contain any pesticides. Now I just need a couple of the other colors.
The start of Green as Wee Grow-What started out as a search for a baby gift has turned into a green business.  Six years ago, when my family and friends were all having babies, I wanted to buy organic onesies for them. The only organic onesies that I could find were light colors and not what I was looking for. I wanted clothes that were earth-tones with whimsical designs. By the time I had our daughter three years later, I figured the styles and designs I wanted would have become available.  I was wrong!  We found cute clothes, but they were not organic.  In addition to cute, what we really wanted were clothes that were healthy for our baby.  My husband and I started talking about how hard it is to feel good about the clothing we were putting on our daughter when we knew so much about the chemicals used to treat infant clothing.  That is when Green as Wee Grow was born.  I have always tried to live my life as green as possible and was lucky enough to marry a man who shares the same ideas about a green lifestyle as I do.  Tyler is an environmental scientist, working in water conservation.  For the past ten years, we have been working on making the smallest Eco footprint possible-Samantha Fowler, Owner

EXPLORE! A child's mind is cosmic, help them explore the world around them.  Tee is screen printed with water based ink on 100% organic cotton. 100% made in the U.S.A, with cotton from fair trade farms.

All the designs and colors of the tees are very soft and very cute. The gathering at the top makes it flare out a bit adding a cute touch. The banding on the explore tee wasn’t too tight in the arms, and there wasn’t any noticeable shrinking from being thrown in the dryer either. Add a long sleeve tee under to carry you through the cooler months. Comes in 3 colors.
I am excited about the 100% Organic Orange Burst Capri Set that will be coming soon-adorable don’t you think?

We can find plenty of information on why choosing organic is better for our health plus the environment, but even with that knowledge so many choose not to go that route.
Green as Wee Grow is helping you to take that step by offering 20% off of y our purchase-just use the code BABYGREEN Valid until 12-31-10
