How does it work? It’s easy!

2)     List a box of clothes your child no longer wears online

3)     When another member selects your box, send it free of charge. 

4)     thredUP even schedules home pick-up!

What makes thredUP so unique is that you can do everything without leaving your house!  When you sign up for thredUP, USPS boxes are automatically sent to your home.  You can list the clothing your kids no longer wear and pick great boxes of clothes in the sizes you need all without having to leave your couch!  Finally, when someone has picked one of your boxes, you have the ability to schedule a pickup from the USPS.  So all you have to do, is leave the box right outside your door.  It's quick, easy and fun!!  The other thing that makes us different than other shopping/swapping sites is that thredUP is a community!  As you can see from our Facebook page, our members are very helpful towards one another...not just answering questions and providing helpful tips about thredUP, but also about every aspect of being a parent! 

Basic membership on thredUP is free.  You have the option of purchasing a thredUP PRO membership, which gives you access to special features on the site.  PRO membership costs $29.99/year or $19.99/6 months.  Each box on thredUP costs $5 + shipping.  

Very simply put, it works like this: pick a box you like, pay $5 plus shipping, prepare a box of items that no longer fit your child, when someone picks your box, send it for free. Here is the step-by-step version:

PICK - Browse boxes listed in the thredUP community and select one you'd like to receive. Hopefully, by now, you have your friends on thredUP so you can just pick their boxes. If you're busy, tell us your clothing preferences and the experts at thredUP can choose a box for you.

PAY - Once you've picked your box, all you pay is $5 plus shipping to have it delivered.

PREPARE - As part of this process, you are required (this is a swap after all!) to list a box of clothes that your child no longer wears. We'll ask for basic details such as types of clothing, number of items, colors, brands, season and sizes. Don't worry, the USPS will mail you empty boxes for your gently used clothes.

SEND - When someone picks your box, thredUP will alert you and ask you to send this box. It is free to send boxes on thredUP because the recipient pays the shipping. You'll be able to print the shipping label and schedule the pickup all in one click. Would you rather drop it off at the Post Office? No problem! Just cancel the pickup and leave a note for your postal carrier. As soon as your box is tracked by the USPS, you will see your box status has been changed to "shipped" in your thredUP closet.

thredUP takes quality control very seriously.  When you receive a box, you are asked to review it.  Your thredUP rating is based on these reviews.  If you have a low rating, people will be less likely to pick your boxes.  If you do receive a crummy box, thredUP customer support is really good about helping members out!
