Merino Toddler Sleep Sack Review and Giveaway

Natural Merino Sleep Sacks for Safer Baby Sleep

When I was contacted to review one of the Merino Kids toddler-size sleep sacks, I have to admit I was extremely skeptical.  My 22 month old hasn’t been in one since she could stand in her crib. Why? My husband and I thought the ones we had would would cause her to hurt herself whenever she tried to pull up plus she was already too big to fit in any of the large organic sleep bags we had so we figured that was that. No one told us any different.  I had seen a picture of a fellow daughter in one and had to ask how she and her daughter liked it and could crawl and even walk in hers (really?), I still didn’t think Gracie would do well. What would happen when she woke up and tried to get out of her toddler bed?  Could she hurt herself?  Could she climb out of her bed, crawl and walk in hers too?  Could she get out of it?

Why I decided to go for it: Every time I put Gracie down for a nap, most of the time she would get up to play and read until she finally fell asleep either on top of the toys she put in her crib or in the rocker. I have a monitor that I can see her which is why I know this. I felt bad for her the first time so I went in to move her from the rocker to her bed. Never again will I make that mistake. She woke up, cried, never went back to sleep and was cranky the rest of the day. Now that she wears the sleep bag, she has a better understanding that it’s nap time, not play time. It’s so cute. I place her in her toddler bed with the sleep sack on, she snuggles her bunny and says “mmmm blanket, night night Mommy, sweet dreams, I wub you”.  Not only does it make her feel safe and help her sleep better, it also makes us sleep and feel better. We no longer have to worry if she’s too hot or too cold.  It can be worn year round and does not irritate her mild case of eczema.

I haven’t had the need to try it yet but I feel it will be perfect if/when I need to use the added feature of a safety belt aperture that allows baby to wear their sleep sack safely in a child car seat or stroller, making it easy for parents to transfer them asleep to and from their crib.

When it comes to bed time, in this household, the Merino Kids toddler-size sleep sacks truly has made our lives easier and that’s important!

*I feel I should add that my husband thought we should have an extra one in case Gracie had a potty accident so he purchased a less expensive one from Amazon, made of different material. Huge mistake. First of all, in my opinion, organic bedding and jammies is a must for her. The Merino Kids sleep sack is 100% natural, renewable and biodegradeable. Each baby sleep sack is crafted from New Zealand's finest pure unbleached merino wool and its outer layer is all-natural fine cotton for extended durability to withstand active toddler wear and tear.
Second of all  the one my husband purchased made Gracie extremely warm which caused her to have a heat rash which the merino kids sleep sack did not.

I know they are costly but in my opinion they are well worth it. I think most people underestimate how helpful a high quality sleep bag can be, including my husband!

Good To Know-The extraordinary fineness of merino fiber and its natural crimp produce a luxuriously soft fabric laced with millions of tiny air pockets that trap air to insulate your baby on the cooler nights. Merino fiber breathes exceptionally well, absorbing and releasing moisture to cool or warm your baby's body as their room temperature rises and falls throughout the night. Made entirely of natural fiber, and fastened with nickel-free press studs, the Merino sleep sack is safe to use for babies with allergies and sensitive skin. Merino fiber is naturally fire resistant and you can rest assured the Merino baby sleep sack has not been treated with fire retardant chemicals that can irritate sensitive skin. The durable Merino sleep sack can be machine washed and tumble-dried on a low heat setting. Wash after wash it will keep its shape and color. Since merino is naturally resistant to stains and odors, the Merino Kids baby sleep sack does not require frequent washing if aired regularly. Synthetic fibers in contrast are oil-based and wearing and washing of synthetic baby sleep sacks can lead to 'greying' caused by the build up of oil contaminants in the synthetic fibers. You will not experience this problem with 100% natural merino. To learn even more visit Baby Sleep Bags where you will find much more valuable information.
